Possible sighting of Birds in Bangalore : Part 3

Pelican: I saw three pelicans were flying at a long distance. My binocular helps me to identify the birds. But I am not sure whether it is a spot billed pelican.

http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/spot-billed-pelican.html

Pond Heron: The most common bird. Though there is no pond or lake near by home, I saw this while travel (sometimes I see when the bird travels, sometimes I see when I travel!)

http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/indian-pond-heron.html

Purple rumped Sun bird: There is a huge Hibiscus rosa-sinensis plant in front of my house. Not often, but I could realize this bird only when it calls. The unique voice helps to identify the arrival of the bird.

http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/purple-rumped-sunbird.html

Purple Sun bird: I did not see as much as Purple rumped Sun bird. The dark purple color and peculiar voice of this bird is one of my favorite.

http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/purple-sunbird.html

Rock Pigeon: May be the highly populated bird. I never found any difficulty to see this. The abundant population in Bangalore, easily helps to identify this.

http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/blue-rock-pigeon.html

Rose ringed Parakeet: The flocks of Parakeet just crossing my home everyday. But I haven't seen this beauty every day. Good information is that still the habitat for this parakeet remains in Bangalore.

http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/rose-ringed-parakeet.html

Shikra: I found both male and female shikra. But they did not gave me an opportunity to see everyday. There may be very few in my area.

http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/shikra-female.html

Spotted Dove: I go to my office cafeteria to see this bird. I take a window seat and and I take a cup of tea with good sighting of spotted dove. They never disappointed me.

http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/spotted-dove.html

Swift: The small flight flying in most of the places. Normally I could see this after 8AM in the morning near to my house.

Tree Pie: When I was watching a black kite sitting on the palm tree, I noticed a long tail in the next branch. My binocular helps me identify this tree pie. I had this luck only once.

http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/indian-rufous-treepie.html

White browed Wagtail: Luckily I saw this bird only once, but too far from my house. The black and white tail dancer grabs my attention.

http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/12/white-browed-wagtail.html

White cheeked barbet: One fine morning, when I open my door, I found some greenish passing my house. It was settled in near by jack fruit tree. I immediately took my binocular and I found this beautiful bird sitting on the perch.

Possible sighting of Birds in Bangalore : Part 2

Common Myna (நாகணவாய் ): The interesting factor is the mimicry of this bird. So many times I thought some parakeet is passing over my head. The population is abundant in Bangalore. I found this bird in most of the places. The bird takes their food from garbage waste.

http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/common-myna.html

Cormorant (நீர் காகம் ): There is no pond or lake near by my area. So I could see this birds very few times. If I would have monitor the birds near by some good water resource, I might have seen this daily.

http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/greater-cormorant.html

Black Drongo (கருங்கரிச்சான்): The dancing bird, comes to one particular location in the evening. I have seen the pair was playing and making noise. The way of flying up and down is magnificent.

 http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/black-drongo.html

Egret (கொக்கு ): I didn't noted down either it is a little egret or cattle egret. I found this most of the time when it was flying.

 http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/cattle-egret.html
http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/little-egret.html

Greater Coucal (செம்போத்து ): I would call this as a mini Peacock. The beautiful feathers take my attention without my knowledge.

 http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/greater-coucal.html

House Crow(காகம்): The most common Indian bird helps our society clean.

http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/house-crow.html

House Sparrow (சிட்டுக் குருவி): I found very few of this bird. Fortunately, I found the flocks of sparrows near by my locality and obviously there is a reason for this. I know one gentle man feeding sparrows everyday. He made a artificial nest box also. The birds still remains because of his excellent work.

 http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/house-sparrow.html

Asian Koel (குயில் ): I never failed to hear the song sung by this beautiful singer. There is a pair roaming near by my house. I could easily see this near by jack fruit tree.

Possible sighting of Birds in Bangalore : Part 1

The immense pleasure of watching the birds can be substantiate only by bird watchers. I am more interested to watch birds. Though we run a machine life, there are lot to listen from the nature. Nature always teach a lot, which gives you the happiness which can not be compensate by any other. I decided to make a record of birds. But I do not have sufficient time to make an account of it. So instead of counting the birds, I decided to record the possibility of sighting the birds. I live in Marathahalli, Bangalore. I travel 17KM everyday to reach my office. I start making a note of the birds which I could see around my home and my way to office. I start this on 01.08.2011. I recorded this for 21 days (not continuous days).

If I saw either 50 rock pigeon or one single pigeon, I considered that the possibility of sighting is true for that day. I have seen rock pigeon all the 21 days and I saw the Shikra for only 4 days.

In the above list, each bird gives the pleasure in different way.

Ashy Prinia (சாம்பல் கதிர் குருவி): Every day morning, I hear the very first voice made by this little creature. The continuous voice of this bird starts the fine morning. Normally I found this in bushes near by house.

http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/ashy-prinia.html

Black Kite (ஊர் பருந்து) : The most important job of this bird is cleaning the city. They do the free service in our living place. Easily available in all over Bangalore. I have seen this bird in all the 21 days.

http://myexperiencewithbirds.blogspot.com/2010/11/black-kite.html

Brahminy Kite (செம் பருந்து) : The similar size of Black Kite, which has white neck. I found this bird in very few days. I have seen plenty of Brahminy kite in Silk board (Hosur Road, Bangalore).

பல்லுயிரியம் (Bio - Diversity) : திரு.ச.
